Path of the Lemons, Maiori to Minori: Guided Walk or Lemon Farm Tour?

Updated October 22, 2026 · 5 min read

Yellow plastic crates full of freshly picked lemons with their leaves stand in a lemon grove

For most people the best way to see the Path of the Lemons is the guided walk from Maiori to Minori with a lemon farm stop: from €50 per person, 2.5 hours, rated 4.9 from 254 reviews. If hundreds of steps are out of the question, the farm tours in Amalfi itself are the gentler way to taste the same lemons, though they have their own climb.

The Path of the Lemons (Sentiero dei Limoni) is not a hike in the Path of the Gods sense. It is a short old farmers’ route of about 3 km that links Maiori with Minori through terraced lemon groves, and the booking page describes it as “a simple but fascinating path composed mostly by stairs”. The sea views come with a price in steps.

Four ways to do it

Our listings also include four other Path of the Lemons hikes, priced from €35 to €59, including a two-hour trip for €35 from Maiori. Each has between 1 and 13 reviews, so they are barely tested and are not compared here. The €50 walk is the only one of these hikes with more than 13 reviews.

The guided walk from Maiori

The group meets at Via Arsenale in Maiori, and the walk starts after a short introduction. According to the itinerary, you pass the collegiate church of Santa Maria a Mare, climb the stairs to the village of Torre, stop at the Belvedere Mortella viewpoint and visit the lemon farm of Giovanni Ruocco, where the tasting happens under the trees. It ends in the main square of Minori.

The listing names lemonade, limoncello, lemon salad and sorbet; reviewers add lemon slices with olive oil and mint. One detail to check before you book: the page lists an entry ticket to the farm at €15, paid on site, and marks that stop as an optional extra in the itinerary. Ask the provider whether the tasting is covered by the €50 or sits on top.

Reviews praise the guides and the views. The honest warnings are also in the reviews: “a lot of stairs up”, and one visitor says that anyone not athletic should stay away because of the “hundreds” of steps. Another says everybody managed, even older people, by going slowly. The booking page itself lists as not suitable people with mobility impairments, heart problems, respiratory issues, diabetes, high blood pressure, altitude sickness, a low level of fitness and people over 70. Bring comfortable shoes.

The Amalfi farm tour

If you are staying in Amalfi, the vertical lemon grove tour is shorter and cheaper. A family that has farmed Amalfi lemons for six generations shows you the terraces, the on-site laboratory and a small museum of rural culture, and you taste lemon cake, lemonade and limoncello.

It is not step-free either. The farm can only be reached on foot: the booking page says vehicles are not allowed beyond Piazza Duomo, and the walk to the farm takes about 15 to 20 minutes. A reviewer mentions steep hills at a slow pace on a well-kept driveway. Wheelchair users, people with heart or respiratory problems and people over 80 are listed as not suitable, and shoes with slippery soles or high heels are refused at the gate. The provider also advises against arriving in Amalfi by car in high season, as it has no parking.

Garden or factory

The Monumental Garden tour tells the story of the garden and of the lemon in Amalfi and ends with lemonade, lemon cake and limoncello. The €15 limoncello factory option lets you choose between a guided visit with a live production demonstration or a tasting with a voucher for bottles or food. The price and format differ by option, so read the option names carefully.

Which to book

  • Most people: the €50 guided walk, if you can manage stairs for about two hours.
  • You want lemons without a long walk: the €35 farm tour in Amalfi, once you have checked the 15 to 20 minute approach on foot.
  • Limited time or budget: the €15 limoncello factory visit.
  • Limited mobility: none of the lemon walks is a safe bet. A boat day shows the same terraces from below; see the Amalfi Coast boat tours, or compare the other lemon tours and ask the provider before booking.

If you would rather walk a longer and more dramatic path, read Path of the Gods from Agerola: guided hike or on your own. The Path of the Gods hiking page lists the guided options.
